Welcome
to our Kindergarten Homework page!
The children were AMAZING as they
chanted their hula on Sunday at the fair. Thanks to Julie Block for helping
us to create the festive costumes for the fair opening. Ros Won's mom made
the leis for each child and had them shipped all the way from Hawaii! The fair
was so much fun. We all wrote about our fair day in our spring journals. The
hair braids and rides seeemed to be the most popular. Cotton candy and prizes
were also talked about quite a bit! We also spent the morning planting our
KA garden! Each child planted a bean, pumpkin and sunflower plant. We will
have a seed journal to chart our plants as they grow. It will be fun and exciting
for the children to watch their plants change. Hopefully we can get some
sun!!
Our country this month will be Mexico.
If you have anything you would like to share with us, we'd love to have you.
Just a reminder
that the Anthologies will only be going home on Mondays and
Wednesdays. On those nights, the children will re read what
we read in class. There are many different
skills covered in each story. Please understand that while
the books may be easy to decode, we are delving into much
deeper comprehension strategies and skills. It is important
that the text is simple to allow the children to learn these
higher level skills and build a strong foundation. They are
all doing a wonderful job reading and writing! It is a very
exciting time for all of the children.
This second semester
homework is a bit different. We will be having reading words
like in the Sam series. Only now, we are asking the children
to use each word in a sentence. We are also sending home
Marcie Cook math each week as part of the homework packet.
Lastly, each night some type of reading homework will be
sent home. On Mondays and Wednesdays the Anthologies will
typically be sent home. On Tuesday and Thursdays, other supplemental
materials will go home. Thank you! The homework is still
due on Friday, with the exception of reading materials that
must be returned daily. It is your choice when the papers
are to be completed unless otherwise specified. It is very
important that you establish a homework routine with your
child. They should do their homework at the same time and
same place each day.
The children also have sharing homework. Monday is free choice sharing. The
children may bring anything they want on Monday. Tuesday through Friday is" assigned
sharing" that
should correspond with the sound of the week.
Thank
you for your help!
