Theseus,
a demigod and the son of Poseidon, is fearless. One example of this is when
he was traveling the road to Athens and fought many dangerous foes and
overcame them all. Corynetes, a giant who wanted to bash TheseusŐs head with
his huge club, was one of the dangers. Tricking Corynetes into giving the
club to him, Theseus used the club to kill the giant. Secondly he faced his
second adversary, Sciron, an ogre who would make people passing him wash his
feet and then kick them over the side of the cliff to his giant man-eating
snapping turtle. When Sciron kicked, Theseus knew he would do this, so he
swiftly jumped out of the way and pushed Sciron over the cliff to his death.
When he sailed to Crete to fight the Minotaur, a monster that is half bull
and half man, it showed yet another example of his courage. Even though he
had numerous chances to get out of fighting the Minotaur, he never backed
out. Once inside the labyrinth where the Minotaur lives, Theseus went looking
for the Minotaur himself, instead of hiding and waiting for the Minotaur to
find him. When he finally found him, Theseus fought the ferocious beast and
killed it with his bare hands. As you can see, Theseus fears nothing. |
