King
Midas, a human, was very selfish. One example of this was when he scorned
Apollo for shedding golden light upon other people, poor and rich. Being
extremely obsessed with gold, Midas thought he should be the only one that could
have it, therefore, being very greedy. Already owning plenty of his own gold,
Midas also thought that rich people were the only people who knew how to use
it. Another time when Midas was egotistical was when he accidentally turned
his own daughter into gold. Unkindly, he left his daughter where she was and
said, ÒI have no time to be sad this morning. I shall be busy turning things
into gold.Ó (p. 193) This shows that he does not even care about his own
family, just himself. Also, he declared that if he had time he would think
about the problem with his daughter and how to fix it. For all these reasons,
King Midas was a very self-centered person. |
