Eros, the
archer of love who is the youngest and most beautiful of the gods, was very
secretive. For example, Eros did not let his own wife, Psyche, know who he
was. When his servant, Zephyrus, brought her to his castle, all of the
servants were invisible, too. Eros himself was invisible, and did not want
her to see him, so she could only hear and feel him. He also never spoke much
and only came out at night. Another example was when one night Psyche saw
him. Because she knew who he was, this broke his trust in her so he fled.
When she ran out of the castle, she noticed that the whole castle was gone.
If he were not mysterious, the castle and all those precious items inside,
like her silver greyhound, would still be there. For all of the reasons above Eros proved he valued his
privacy. |
