Medusa,
a mortal, was very unfortunate. One reason was because she was originally
beautiful but then she was turned into an ugly gorgon with serpents for hair.
When Athene saw that Poseidon was flirting with Medusa in her temple, Athene
was furious because she hated men. Since Poseidon was a god, Athene could not
do anything to him, so she changed Medusa into a monster with snakes coming
out of her head. Another reason why Medusa was unlucky was because her head
was chopped off by Perseus. When King Polydectes wanted to marry PerseusŐs
mom, he sent Perseus out to chop off MedusaŐs head and bring it back to him.
The king knew that he would die doing that, so then he could marry his
mother. By using fighting gear and a helmet to make him invisible so that he
could chop off her head, Perseus did. Then he brought it back to the king and
turned his head into stone. In conclusion, Medusa was hapless because she was
not responsible for either her curse or her death. |
