Athene, the goddess of intellectual activities, was very
clever. One example was when she taught men how to use tools such as the ax,
plough, ox-yoke, wheel, and sail. She also taught the science of numbers to them
but she never educated the women in that section. However, she did give women
the knowledge of how to weave and spin. No one before Athene was brainy
enough to invent those crucial basic needs. Another specific case that
illustrates AtheneÕs shrewdness was how she always managed to defeat Ares,
the god of war, in battle. Using strategy, Athene always championed over
Ares. In conclusion, Athene was quite cunning in teaching men and women, as
well as demolishing her hated brother in war. |
