Community
Service
It
is the goal of the Community Service Program to instill in children a
lifelong commitment to caring for others. The students actively participate
in grade level age-appropriate programs that involve many local community
organizations, like Heal the Bay and One Voice.
Additionally,
John Thomas Dye
offers opportunities
for students to
extend their learning
through Community
Service Clubs
and All-School
Fundraisers.
Student
Council, fourth
through sixth
grades, plans
fundraisers for
student-chosen
philanthropic
organizations.
Our programs
are hands-on and
anchored in real
life situations,
which provide
positive learning
outcomes. By
teaching a variety
of social and
environmental
issues, our hope
is that the
children of John
Thomas Dye will
realize the need
for action and
the power they
possess to make
a difference.
Caring about
others is an integral
part of the
school’s
basic philosophy
of the “Five
C’s,” Caring,
Courtesy, Consideration,
Cooperation, and
Common Sense.
This philosophy
is at the heart
of community service.
As a caring school
community we
pride ourselves
in the knowledge
that we are
assisting future
citizens to embrace
action and seek
change for the
good of the community.
