Honey Ant

Prenolepis imparis

á      It has an enlarged back-end to store extra food

á      Native Americans made excavation pits to dig out the ants.

á      Often, the honey ant was crushed to make a molasses-tasting wine!

Comments: Once I saw the honey ant, it was much smaller than I imagined. It was also much lighter than I thought. Occasionally, it came onto the surface to grab water.

My favorite part of this trip was hiking with all of my friends and just having fun.
