Single-leaf Pinyon Pine

Pinus monophylla

· Needles come in bundles of one. · There are male and female flowers. · You may eat the pine nuts from the cone.
At the Devil’s Punchbowl I saw the Single Leaf Pinyon Pine, and the needles were sharper than I expected. They have thicker needles than I would have thought, too. My favorite part of the field trip was when we got to pet the barn owl in the visitors’ center. It was a fun experience.
